Eden El Mafaoui

Eden El Mafaoui is a student at the University of Colorado Denver. 
She is working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Design and a minor in Information Systems. She hopes to attend graduate school and pursue a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) where she can work on developing secure and accessible systems for all. She is residing in Denver, Colorado, but was raised in Miami, Florida.

Created for 4D Art at the Metropolitan State University of Denver.
Using several archival and open-source videos depicting Middle Eastern and North African events, I created a layered, ethereal portrayal of Moroccan and Algerian life, particularly of the French colonization of North Africa from the early 1800ʼs to the mid 1900ʼs. I used the music of Nass El Ghiwane. I also tried to reference more contemporary depictions of the North African experience by using the movie La Haine.
